Maps
The interactive bicycle route map is located here. It covers the entire 15-county area and connects most destination points in the region. These were chosen as roads typically used by local cyclists for transportation and enjoyment. Google Maps has added bicycle routing to their maps – click under ‘Other’ to access. Soon the BWNWGA route information will be included in their recommended routes
These routes form a 1,000+ mile network connecting the cities and points of interest in the 15-county Northwest Georgia region and connect to adjacent bike routes in Georgia and Tennessee. There are thousands of miles of other great cycling roads in our region to explore. These were chosen as roads typically used by local cyclists for transportation and enjoyment. The numbered dots represent all of the Historical Markers in the region.
Most routes share the road with other vehicles. On routes into cities, expect some level of traffic. On the quiet, narrow, winding country roads, please ride to the right. The other vehicles aren’t expecting you any more than you are expecting them! We are a bedroom community for nearby large cities, so some normally quiet roads have more traffic during morning and evening commute times. Remember that all travel, by foot, bicycle or car, has some inherent risk, so be careful out there!
If you are uncomfortable riding on the road, please go to Bike Education to learn about training courses in your area. For information on Georgia traffic laws relating specifically to cycling, go to “Georgia Bicyclist Pocket Guide” If you have any comments or suggestion on the routes, signing or road conditions, please go to “Contact Us” and share them with us.
See you on the road!
