Governor Issues Georgia Walk to School Day Proclamation
Thousands of students are expected to walk to school on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, as part of the fourth annual Georgia Walk to School Day (gWalk.) Governor Nathan Deal has issued a proclamation in support of gWalk and the schools participating.
Organized by the Georgia Department of Transportation’s (GDOT) Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Resource Center, gWalk events emphasize the importance of pedestrian safety, physical activity, concern for the environment, and building connections between families, schools, and the broader community.
Alicia Hatcher and Nykia Burke from the Resource Center pose with Governor Deal and Georgia DOT SRTS State Coordinator Emmanuella Myrthil at the Georgia Capitol building.
